A travesty
You’re holding the stem of the crystal glass between thumb and forefinger, admiring the deep red colour of its contents. You swirl the wine before inhaling its bouquet. It’s your favourite shiraz, and you’re about to taste it when it is rudely plucked from your grasp and dashed to the floor... the disappointment, nay, the outrage: this happens time and again when you listen to this album. Just as a familiar piece is reaching its climax, it is rudely terminated. Some are labelled “excerpt”, but this doesn’t mean a movement or scherzo from the full work. It means that you only get a third or half of a movement, seemingly randomly chopped up. I have erased this travesty.
