Huge mistake by her management

The management of Gabriella Cilmi made a huge mistake by greedily trying to cash in on her initial success and make her a pop Top 40 teeny bopper following the success of her jazzy SWEET ABOUT ME…..she was never gonna be an overnight Kylie…..and it badly backfired and sadly ruined her career making her a one hit wonder.
However, in 2019 Cilmi released an EP with more rock routes suited to her which can hopefully resurrect her career

Great POP!

Wow! What a great pop record! Bought it on a whim because of the great track "Hearts Don't Lie". Can't believe Oz radio has ignored another home-grown artist.

B

Frankly disappointed with this album-On a Mission is awesome and catchy but the rest of the album is not so great and was a waste of $15. Sorry Gabriella-better luck next time!

Love, love, LOVE!

I absolutely love this album. I cannot stop listening to it & think she's amazing. Didn't need the Sweet About Me remix though, it's fab without it.

Gabriella Cilmi

Gabriella Cilmi has nothing wrong with her voice. She is the best female singer I have ever heard. She is also hot and sexy. Sweet about me and On a mission aren't her only awesome songs she has some others as well. Go Gabriella! You rock!

Inarage

How dare half of you bag Gabriella! She is an awesome singer and does a much better job than those half beaten drearies you call Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Christina Aguleira. These women should quiten down and enjoy the fruits of old age and let this amazing talent (and others) do their thang!

what happened?

Gabriella Cilmi, Started off a cute, young voice, who was set to rock the indie music scene with her quirky tracks like "sweet about me", has now turned into a...
Try hard 80's style pop diva Kylie Minouge impersonator!
If you love to dance around in over-sized fluro tee shirts, use way too much hairgel and have added shoulder pads to all your jackets, go ahead and buy this album.
But if you were expecting some easy listening alternative music (the old Cilmi) then save your money,
AND STEAR CLEAR!

Um well my fave song on this alburm (if it is even considered an alburm) would have to be On a mission cause that's like the most popular and Cool song there

Disappointing

Some catchy tracks but most of it sounds like the songs Kylie rejected. That said, I think ' Love Me Cos You Want To' is excellent though. Have just bought a couple of tracks.

Potential mistake?

I'm pretty sure that her On a Mission video clip is meant to be a spoof on Beyoncè's video clips. It's an entertaining video, but very risky trying to do that.
This album is ok, I personally wouldn't buy it as most of the tracks sound very similar. On a Mission is quite a good song though, so I would purchase that track. I think her Lessons to be Learned album was much better, and it developed her style. Ten, however, I think has people a bit unsure of what style of artist Gabriella Cilmi is aiming to become. I'm not sure if it will work for her, good on her for trying something new, and there's a couple of good tracks on this album, but I think going from an alternative pop sound with a twang that captured international attention to a dance/techno sound will be quite a damaging mistake. Good luck to her though!

just no.

the whole album sounds like something from the 80s. and I don't mean the good stuff. also, 'love me cos u want to' sounds like elevator music.

Disapointing Follow Up!

TEN is a an over produced auto tuned ridden follow up to the strong debut LESSONS TO BE LEARNED which i gave four stars but with only two listenable tracks (single On A Mission and second track Hearts Don't Lie) you should just purchase those tracks! very disapointed!

Impressive Release!

Gabriella has really stepped up her game on "Ten" and is showing her step away from the style of "Sweet About Me".
The album's lead single "On A Mission" is instantly recognisable as a star track with it's 80's style rift and vocals.
"Hearts Don't Lie" is another standout with it's odd beat and strange vocal production but is strangely catchy and radio friendly.
Other standouts include "Super Hot", "Love Me Cos You Want To" and "Glue".
This is a departure from her previous style and people need to understand she's not little Gabby anymore.
4 Stars. I'd like to see a little more pop oriented tracks on her next album and a sound produced by Dr Luke (Katy Perry, Britney Spears etc).

Pure Pop

I became a fan with the release of On A Mission a great pop track. I was looking forward to the album and must say it holds up nicely to my expectations. I definately think Hearts Don't Lie is an absolute Disco Dance Anthem & the highlight of the album as it's verses are actually extremely catchy with it's brillant array of disco beats. Defender is a great pop ballad and flows nicely, one of the best songs along with Robots with a great lyric that draws you in it is a Mid-Tempo track. Another rock tinged dance track is Let Me Know which is one of the catchiest songs, such a great chorus here. Also a little on the rick edge side of dance is Invisible Girl which explodes vocally in the chorus. I certainly reccommend this album to Dance, Disco, Pop fans. My fav tunes here are Hearts Don't Lie, Defender, Robots, On A MIssion & Let Me Know.
